The Face Behind The Shower Thoughts Series

women's life coach

Hey! While many of you know me as the mastermind behind The Shower Thoughts Series, I thought I'd introduce myself again to put a face to the blog. I'm Selena! So nice to finally meet (or meet again).

I wanted to do an intro post for a few reasons:

  1. I haven’t done one since last year (and so much has changed!)

  2. For those who don't know who I am

  3. To give all the life updates and things I've learned this year

SO without further or do - who the heck am I? My name is Selena and I am a 24-year-old city dweller who has a zest for adventure, music, and WRITING (can you tell?). I'm currently in the marketing field, however *life update alert* I have finally taken the leap in starting my own life coaching business *cue the confetti*!!

If you've been reading along since this blog began, you know that I have a true passion for helping others - hence why I even started this blog. As I've cultivated this blog and its community the past year and a half, I realized I craved to do more.

I wanted to help more people in a more intimate setting. And thus, Selena the life coach was born! I couldn't be more ecstatic to begin this next chapter and help empower women in any way I can. (that being said, contact me for 1:1 sessions if interested:))

Life update #2 is that after a few years' hiatus, I am finally getting back into singing - yes I'm also a singer! As luck would have it, a Boston artist reached out to me on my singing Instagram account and asked me to perform in a show with six other Boston artists in October. So, cheers to my first ever "real" show (cue the crazy nerves)!

But, life coaching and performing aren't the only life updates I have of the past year and a half. We all have had a crazy year and my life has been no exception! From moving in the middle of a pandemic, to my childhood dog passing, to investing in my own life coach, to all the dating turmoils - you could say I've learned a lot.

But, the most important thing I've learned is that all of our *stuff* is so normal. We all have our baggage, we're all healing, we're all trying to figure it out day by day, and anyone who tells you they have it figured out is lying.

I've learned that you have to go after your dreams regardless of anyone's opinion - and yes, people say that - but I've really learned that this year. Even if your path doesn't make sense to others, go for what sets your soul on fire. Is your life really worth living if you don't?

I've learned to be scared and do it anyways - this applies to everything: work, relationships, personal growth and development. As Jen Sincero said, "When it comes to changing your life, If you're not scared, you're doing something wrong."

Your dreams should scare you, or they're not big enough. The tough conversations should scare you because that means they're meaningful. Healing should scare you because you know you're about to undergo a massive transformation. The best things in life are scary, and as Will Smith said, "God placed the best things in life on the other side of fear."

I've learned that worrying only steals your joy, and doesn't prevent anything from happening.

I've learned there's nothing quite like a mom's hug, a good cry, or a homemade chocolate chip cookie.

I've learned that living in the moment can be hard, but is necessary.

I've learned that it can take time to know yourself, and love who you used to be, who you are, and who you're trying to become.

I've learned that there is no better feeling than helping others.

I've learned that we're all learning and will continue to until our dying day.

Have you learned enough about what I've learned yet? The list goes on and on, but I'm just a girl trying to figure it out and hopefully helping you figure it out too.

Thanks for reading, and contact me here if you'd like to work with me!
